Dream Machine

(An Absolon/Yee-King Experiment)

  "The different portions of this complicated structure stand, of course, in the most manifold logical relations to one another. They can represent foreground and background, digressions and illustrations, conditions, chains of evidence and counter arguments. When the whole mass of these dream-thoughts is brought under the pressure of the dream-work, and its elements are turned about, broken into fragments and jammed together-almost like pack-ice- the question arises of what happens to the logical connections which have hitherho formed its framework"
[S Freud. The Dream Work 1900}

  The Dream Machine is a cross-discipline experiment/art project that has the aim of creating 'dream-works'. Based on psychoanalytical principles and influenced by a variety of cultural material, we hope to build a computer program that 'turns about, breaks apart and jams together' dreams. The Dream Machine's raw material will be the accounts of dreams that you send to us.

Your dreams will be entered into a data-base where they will be treated in a way that approximates or mimics the human dreaming apparartus. Basically, your dream will be become the material for many others. All we need to begin is a memory or two of a dream you once had, it can be as long or short as you like, a mere fragment or an intricate narrative, an image, a scene, a phrase.

To submit your dream please click here. You can do it anonomously if you like.
